Setup Extra Domain Names with Web Sites in your Virtual Server

Firstly: ADD NEW DOMAIN NAME TO DNS NAME SERVER

If you have ordered a Virtual DNS Nameserver with your Virtual Server, then login your Virtual DNS account and then type "vnewdomain". You then have to enter new domain name you want to add, IP of your Virtual Server. You will be asked whether you like to restart your DNS Nameservers and you should always answer "YES".

If you have not ordered a Virtual DNS Nameserver, send email request to us with the new domain name and your IP address. Each additions to our nameservers cost you HK$500.

Secondly: REGISTER THE NEW DOMAIN

Register the new domain names with the appropriate Registration Bodies. Domains end with .com, .net and .org should be registered in InterNIC. Domains end with .com.hk .net.hk .org.hk should be registered with HKNIC. Others domains, e.g. .co.uk, .com.ca, .co.jp, .com.in, .com.tw, .to, .at, etc, can all be supported in HKIS Virtual Server.

Thirdly: CONFIGURE YOUR WEB SERVER TO ACCEPT EXTRA DOMAINS

In the /www/conf directory of your virtual server, you will find an important configuration file called httpd.conf. In this file, add the following lines:

<VirtualHost client.com.hk www.client.com.hk>
ServerName www.client.com.hk
ServerAdmin webmaster@client.com.hk
DocumentRoot /usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/client
</VirtualHost>

Then, www.client.com.hk will be mapped to the directory /usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/client directory in your Virtual Server. The next thing to do is obviously to create an FTP account or FrontPage for your client to upload their web pages.
